“Cas, would you do me the honor of becoming my brother in law?” Sam knelt in front of Cas, holding up John’s wedding ring.

“Dude, did you just propose to him for me?”

“Someone had to, Dean!”

After Mary came back, she noticed Castiel wearing John’s ring. Cas offered to give it to her, explained that really it belonged with her, but she insisted he keep it. 

The very next day, Dean had Mary’s wedding ring on a chain around his neck while her fingers were now bare. 

“She told me they were a set,” Dean explained, playing with the ring between his fingers. “That the rings are destined to be together, just like the people who wear them.”
